December 5, 2015.

My Sylva emerged amidst heavy fracas and security breach which erupted at the venue of the primaries at the Samson Siasia Stadium in the state capital, Yenagoa.

Even the political umpire of the occasion, Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole was not exempted from the disorder as angry mob snatched the microphone from him on more than one occasion.

The angry mob kept shouting “Adams Oshiomhole is compromised” and at a point attempted to attack the ‘compromised’ governor but the situation was saved by his security team.

The irate mob responded by firing sporadically into the air that could be mistaken for a mini war instead of a governorship primary.

Elombah.com reported on Tuesday that midway into the primary, one of the foremost aspirants, Timi Alaibe withdrew from the race citing glaring irregularities as his reason for withdrawal.

Also reported was that bloody clashes attended Bayelsa APC primary as Alaibe storms out of venue. In the course of the report, Elombah.com reported that the APC governorship primary was turned to a battle field.

Supporters of the two leading governorship aspirants, Timi Alaibe and Timipre Sylva engaged themselves in violent clashes which left scores, including Alaibe himself, injured.

According to an eye witness, “It was a pathetic sight to see a political event reduced to a combat.”

Trouble was said to have started when it was discovered by Alaibe and his supporters that accredited delegates from Brass, the LG of his arch-rival, Sylva, were far more than all delegates from the other LGs combined.

It was in a bid to challenge what was seen as an anomaly by Alaibe and his supporters that a heated argument ensued resulting in a free- for- all between the opposing camps.

In the process, Alaibe and many others sustained injuries. To demonstrate his anger and disapproval of the electoral process, Alaibe was also said to have stormed out of the venue with his supporters in protest.
