On Wednesday, February 7, a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, gave the federal government a seven-day deadline to fix the pricing of goods and petroleum products.
The order consequent to the original request brought and defended by the applicant, Femi Falana SAN, a human rights activist, was granted by Justice Ambose Lewis-Allagoa.
According to the law, all the facts deposed in the affidavit attached to the originating motion are deemed admitted. He stated, “I have had the applicant Femi Falana in a suit no San, FHC/L/CS/869/2023 and I have also discovered that despite the service of the Originating motion on the respondents, namely Attorney-General of the Federation and the Price Control Board, no opposition to it by way of counter affidavit.”
As a result, the motion papers’ requests for prayers are all granted in their exact form.
The Nigerian government was directed by the judge to set prices for milk, flour, sugar, salt, motor vehicles and their spare parts, matches, bicycles and their spare parts, motorcycles and their spare parts, and petroleum products, which include kerosene, diesel, and petrol motor spirit (PMS).
