NSF: Kwara Volleyball team begins friendlies, beats Legend Spikers

The Kwara Volleyball team on Tuesday defeated Legend Spikers 3-1 in one of the friendly matches organised to prepare the players ahead of the National Sports Festival in Edo from April 3 to April 14.

The team beat the visitors in the first set 25-17, lost the 2nd 15-25 and rose to the occasion again in the 4th and 5th sets winning 25-14, 25-19 in the process.

According to Coach of the team, Wale Gbadamosi, the friendlies are geared towards preparing the Kwara Volleyball team ahead in readiness for the herculean task of the festival.

Gbadamosi confirmed that the friendly matches will hold from March 23 to March 27, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

According to him, the match is sponsored by the Special Assistant (Sports) to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Alhaji Attairu Ibrahim.

Some of the fixtures are Team Kwara vs Royal Spikers on Wednesday, another match against Iloffa Stormers on Thursday, while Sound State will face the team on Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF), originally meant to take place in March through April 2020 in Benin City, Edo, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sports festival will now hold from April 3 to April 14 in Benin City. (NAN)
