Soccer ruling body, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is currently in hot waters after one its officials was accused of mishandling $200 subsidy money meant to cushion cost of living for Nigerian journalists at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations, DDM has learnt exclusively.
Many journalists and Nigerians captured in the arrangement were shortchanged in favour of a select few, it was learnt.
With reports trending over high cost of living in Cotê d’Ivore, host of the just concluded AFCON, having journalists narrate their ordeal in various platforms, NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau (pictured above), had sanctioned moves to help ameliorate the hardship within limits permitted ethically, as learnt.
As result, $200 was approved for every Nigerian journalists accredited to cover the tournament.
The online newspaper has tried to reach an official of NFF said to be involved in the controversy but has met with no success as repeated calls to him has not been answered.
DDM is currently in possession of full details of the matter as it transpired in Abidjan and is still expecting responses sent to NFF officially by close of work, Tuesday to enable a comprehensive report later.
