The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth Wing has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari is behind the Northern group seeking South East secession from Nigeria.
The Ohanaeze Youth Wing made the allegation during a press conference addressed on 29th October, 2021 in Awka, Anambra State.
In a copy of the text of the press conference signed by the Acting Youth Leader, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, titled “State of ala Igbo: Our fate is in our hands!” the apex Igbo youth organisation blasted the Northern group for the suit seeking South East secession from Nigeria.
The statement reads in part:
“The Federal Government’s failure to arrest those behind this suit shows it’s insincerity in preserving the shaky unity of this country and we believe that President Muhammadu Buhari is the motivator of these elements.
“The world needs no further evidence to confirm that President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling cabal are hell-bent on forcing Ndigbo out of Nigeria.
“This gives us reason to also believe that the carnage in the South East is being sponsored by the same elements who have gone to court to try to force us out of Nigeria.
“These Federal Government’s sanctioned efforts at pushing Ndigbo out of the Nigerian union is aimed at taking over the investments and businesses of Ndigbo scattered all over Nigeria, and we wish to put the world on notice over these scandalous attempts by the Federal Government.
“If the Federal Government can look the other way while its agents go on with a devious agenda to eliminate Ndigbo from Nigeria, then the same Federal Government has no justification to proscribe the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and tag it a terrorist organization.
“The IPOB fights for the same thing this Northern group is fighting for, and as long as one is condoned, then the other should be respected.”
The youth organisation, therefore, called on President Buhari to de-proscribe IPOB with immediate effect.
In a related development during the press conference, the youths lambasted Buhari’s government over the mess surrounding the planned takeoff of the Anambra International Cargo Airport.
Recall that News.band reported that Air Peace, on Saturday, canceled its inaugural flight from Abuja and Lagos to Anambra Airport.
Air Peace cited non clearance into Anambra aerodrome by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the launch of the Anambra State International Cargo/Passenger Airport.
Ohanaeze youths considered the advisory as an affront on the entire Igbo nation and a furtherance of the provocation of Ndigbo by the Federal Government.
They asked Buhari to immediately order a recant of that order by the National Security Adviser (NSA) and provide all necessary logistics to guarantee the successful takeoff of the airport.
