Nigeria Youth Debate Tournament ends in Awka with award ceremony

The Nigeria Youth Conference and Debate Tournament events has successfully concluded with an award ceremony held yesterday at New Jerusalem Hotel, Awka, Anambra state.

Among those present at the event was the leading 2023 Presidential Aspirant and former Governor of Anambra state, His Excellency Peter Obi, who gave the keynote address.

Addressing the youths present at the occasion, Mr. Obi, in his remarks, asserted the necessity of an increased youth interest and active participation in politics and governance.

He explained that to successfully build the Nigerian envision, there is a need to choose leaders capable of delivering on public good.

He said: “As we continue to encourage youth participation in governance, we should also be intentional about choosing our leaders at the helm of affairs.

“We should support a leader that has proven track record on delivering good governance.

“I know I have the capacity and experience and I am volunteering myself to serve and save this country because it is OUR country.

“I will not promise anybody happiness, but I promise you that you will enjoy the dividends of good governance.”

The presidential aspirant further emphasised on getting the Voter’s Card as it was the only tool to challenge the system and vote in change.

The event also attracted other dignitaries which includes the former commissioner for economic planning, budget and development partners, Mr. Mark Okoye II, the CEO of explorer magazine, Mr. Tobenna Obiano, political expert, Mr. Ebuka Onyekwelu, Academic Staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Sir. Augustine Ikeh, and barrister and politician, Barr. Casmir Nwafor.

The event was sponsored by the Southern and Middle Belt Alliance (SaMBA) and coordinated in collaboration with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Debate Club.
