A Nollywood actor, Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has been confirmed dead.

His demise was confirmed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria in the early hours of Thursday.

The famous actor who hailed from Bermanda, Cameroon, but resided in Nigeria, passed away after drowning while filming a movie in Delta State.

The Guild had earlier announced that Odonwodo was showing signs of life and that efforts were being made to revive him.

But AGN President, Emeka Rollas, in a statement uploaded on his Instagram in the early hours of Thursday, says Mr Odonwodo did not make it alongside three of his colleagues:

“It’s so so sad that our joy was shortlived.

“My first post was out of excitement when we noticed his tingling fingers.

“Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail.

“God knows the best. We finally lost him
Mr Friday’s corpse has been identified but three other corpses are yet to be found.”
