Herve Renard Emerges As Top Contender For Vacant Super Eagles Coaching Job

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reached out to renowned football manager Herve Renard to take the reins as the next Super Eagles coach.
Renard’s departure as head coach of the French women’s national team after the Paris Olympics 2024 has sparked intense interest from the NFF, who are seeking a capable replacement for Finidi George.
Finidi George tendered his resignation as Nigeria’s head coach after two disappointing results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in June.
Sources in the NFF told Diaspora Digital Media Renard is highly fancied to succeed Finidi George due to his impressive track record, having won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Zambia in 2012 and the Ivory Coast in 2015.
The 55-year-old French coach has a wealth of experience, having managed several national teams and clubs, including the Zambia national team, Ivory Coast, and the French women’s national team. His impressive credentials and ability to win major tournaments make him an attractive candidate for the Super Eagles job.
Meanwhile, Italian football manager Roberto Landi has also expressed interest in the vacant position, joining the race to succeed Finidi George. Landi, who has handled teams like Qatar U21 and Scotland’s Livingston FC, believes he has what it takes to lead the Super Eagles to success.
The NFF is expected to make a decision soon, and football fans in Nigeria are eagerly waiting to see who will be appointed as the next coach of the Super Eagles.
