Declan Rice completes £105m move to Arsenal

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Declan Rice in a British record transfer.

The fee agreed between the Gunners and West Ham for the England midfielder eclipses the £100m Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish two years ago and also breaks Arsenal’s record for a new signing.

Rice, 24, moves for an initial £100m fee with £5m agreed in add-ons, following long-running negotiations to determine the exact structure of the payments.

The deal marks the highest fee ever received by West Ham, who signed the Londoner as a teenager after he was released by Chelsea.

Rice joins up with Arsenal’s squad for their flight on Sunday for the pre-season tour of America.

Manager Mikel Arteta speaking on the development said, “We’re really happy that Declan is joining us. He is a player with tremendous ability, who has been performing at a high level in the Premier League and for England for a number of seasons now.

“Declan is bringing undoubted quality to the club and he is an exceptional talent who has the potential to be very successful here.

“Declan has great experience in the Premier League at only 24 years old. He has captained a very good West Ham team and as we all saw, he recently lifted a European trophy.

“The responsibility and role he has taken on has been very impressive and we are really excited that he is joining us.”

It has been revealed that Rice will wear the No41 jersey at Arsenal.
