An Anambra state-born close confidant of the Sokoto State Governor and immediate past Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who was the immediate past representative of the Idemili Federal Constituency, Chief Charles Chinwendu Odedo has told journalists that he has concluded arrangement for a formal declaration of his governorship interest for the Nov 18,2017 poll.

Described as a mass mover and grassroots politician, Hon Odedo was said to have touched the lives of virtually all his constituents within the brief six years period he stayed in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.

According to him, “… representation and leadership revolves around touching the lives of the people and attracting democracy dividends to better their living standard.

“That has remained my focus and was exactly what I did within the six years I had the opportunity in the National Assembly”, he emphasized.

In his Report Card magazine which had detailed account of his stewardship, copies of which were made available to journalists and constituents, Chief Odedo enumerated graphically all projects he attracted to each of the seventeen communities within his Federal constituency.

He listed no fewer than eight poverty alleviation tools he gave out to named individuals in each community.

These included commuter buses, sewing machines, hair dressing/barbing salon equipments, generating sets, sewing machines, motor cycles, Keke Napep and poultry funding.

He also set up a N50million scholarship scheme which cover at least eight beneficiaries from each of the seventeen communities.

He donated school buses to about thirteen secondary schools, and a library building, as well as a fully equipped computer laboratory/school with about fifty units to his community.

The former lawmaker was reputed to have polled the highest number of votes by anyone for the House of Representatives election during the 2011 general elections nationwide. It was a landslide.

When taken up on how he intends to surmount challenges and argument that he comes from the Central Senatorial zone where the immediate governors- Sen Chris Ngige and Chief Peter Obi came from, Odedo acknowledged that it was actually going to be an uphill task he was bracing up to.

He believes that with the superlative record he left in the entire seventeen communities within his Idemili Federal Constituency in his days in the House of Representatives, it would be a lot easier.

He noted that electorates want a performer rather than a bench warmer who would be a waste of space.

He was said to have remained a free consultant to other National Assembly members on how to network with colleagues to get things done, till date.
