Rejected By His Party: More Democratic MPs Intensify Calls For Biden To Quit Presidential Race

President Joe Biden is facing unprecedented pressure to withdraw from the presidential race, as a growing number of Democratic lawmakers and prominent figures urge him to reconsider his candidacy.

The calls for Biden to drop out come amidst concerns over his age, health, and recent gaffes on the campaign trail, which have raised doubts about his ability to effectively lead the party into the general election.

Several Democratic MPs have now joined the chorus of voices calling for Biden to step aside.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a prominent progressive leader, expressed concerns about Biden’s ability to energize the party’s base, stating, “We need a candidate who can inspire and mobilize our voters, and I’m not sure President Biden is that person.”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), another influential progressive voice, called for a new generation of leadership, saying, “It’s time for a change. We need fresh ideas and a new perspective to take on the challenges facing our country.” Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), a close ally of Sen. Bernie Sanders, urged Biden to consider the party’s long-term interests, stating, “We need a candidate who can build a sustainable movement, not just win an election.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a potential rival to Biden, hinted at a potential run himself if Biden does not drop out, saying, “If President Biden is not in the race, I will certainly consider running to ensure the party has a strong, progressive candidate.”

The pressure on Biden comes as his campaign struggles to gain momentum, with recent polls showing him trailing behind other Democratic candidates. His campaign has pushed back against the criticism, emphasizing his experience and accomplishments as President. However, the growing chorus of concerns from within his own party has raised questions about his viability as a candidate.

As the Democratic primary field continues to shift, the calls for Biden to drop out are likely to intensify. The party is eager to avoid a divisive and contentious primary battle, and many believe that Biden’s withdrawal would pave the way for a more unified and strong candidate to emerge.

Only time will tell if the pressure will mount and potentially impact Biden’s decision to continue his presidential bid. One thing is certain, however: the Democratic Party is at a crossroads, and the fate of their presidential hopes hangs in the balance.
