Tragedy was averted today after a ValueJet CRJ 900 Bombardier aircraft suddenly veered off from the runway at Port-Harcourt International Airport.
This medium gathered that the aircraft overshot the runway upon landing at 3:32pm with 62 passengers and five other members of the flight crew.
Though, the situation reportedly sent passengers into panic mood but the aircraft with registration 5N-BXR safely landed despite the troubling situation
Capt. Dapo Majekodunmi, the Managing Director of ValueJet, while making clarification over the incident quoted Captain Stanley Balami as saying that the slip was caused by algae on the taxiway, stopping the aircraft from maintaining the centerline.
He however, assured the general public that ValueJet is committed to safety and that there have been no interruptions to the airline’s operations
