Former French international Patrice Evra has been handed a 12-month jail sentence for abandoning his baby daughter in a devastating custody battle.

The ex-Manchester United and Juventus star was found guilty of deserting his child and failing to pay child support, leading to his conviction.

According to sources close to the case, Evra’s sentence was suspended for two years, but he will still have to complete a minimum of four months in prison.

Additionally, he has been ordered to pay a substantial amount in child support arrears and ongoing maintenance fees.

Evra’s legal troubles began when his former partner, a French national, took him to court over his alleged abandonment of their daughter.

The court heard that Evra had failed to provide financial support or maintain any meaningful relationship with his child, leading to the devastating consequences.

This news comes as a shock to the football community, as Evra was once hailed as a hero on the pitch. His fall from grace serves as a stark reminder that even the mighty can fall when it comes to personal and legal issues.

Evra’s representatives have yet to comment on the verdict, but sources suggest that an appeal may be in the works.
