Anambra Ohaneze, Traditional Rulers Zone Governorship To Anambra North

Published

The Anambra State chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo and Anambra State Traditional Rulers have endorsed zoning to Anambra North ahead of the upcoming state governorship election.

The hierarchies also ordered all political parties in the state to adopt Anambra North candidates.

The resolution was contained in a communique issued following a joint meeting on Tuesday May 16 by the bodies.

It was further resolved that all political parties hoping to participate in the election will be encouraged to pick their flag bearers from Anambra North.

Recall that earlier this year, the Anambra Union led by Prof ABC Nwosu adopted a similar motion.

The Union pledged their support for any political party in the state that will feature aspirants from Anambra North from any of the mainstream party.

During an interview with Elombah.com in March, the Secretary of the Union, Barrister Obunike Ohaegbu said that their support will go for any candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] or the All Progressives Congress [APC].

That will ensure that Anambra State has been rescued from the grips of sectional parties in the likes of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA].

With this adoption of zoning by both Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ndi Igwe, Anambra Union and other stakeholders in the state, the battle is now between the aspirants from Anambra North who will emerge the flag bearers of their party.

Already, several aspirants from Anambra North are flexing their political muscles in the likes of Mr. Oseloka Obaze of the PDP, Chike Obidigbo  of APC, and the rest.

With this latest development, the onus is on Ndi Anambra North over the aspirants will win the November 18 governorship election in the state.
