Police authorities in Borno State have confirmed the death of Professor Ruth Haruna Wazis, former Head of the Department of Business Management, University of Maiduguri, who lost her life in a freak accident in her home.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
She had parked her car in her garage when a mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her down and running over her.
He said that she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries before being taken to the hospital.
The police boss added that her remains were taken to the hospital by members of her family.
