LP House of Reps member, Ekene Adams, dies at 39

A member of the House of Representatives Ekene Abubakar Adams is dead.

The Labour Party (LP) lawmaker was 39.

Ekene Abubakar Adams, who represented the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State died in the wee hours of Tuesday.

A statement by the spokesman of the House, Akin Rotimi Jr, said Adams was a dedicated public servant, passionate sports administrator, and philanthropist.

Adams chaired the House Committee on Sports and was serving his first term in the House before his unfortunate death.

“The dear departed lawmaker was a kind and gentle humanitarian, loved by all who knew him. His dedication to the development of grassroots sports in Nigeria was unwavering, and his contributions to the House will be deeply missed,” the statement reads.

The House of Representatives extended heartfelt condolences to Adams’ family, friends, and constituents, as well as to the people and Government of Kaduna State.

“May God grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may his soul find rest in the bosom of the Almighty,” it continued.

Adams background as a former football player and his role as general manager of Nigeria Premier Football League side Remo Stars and Kada City earned him the chairmanship of the House Committee on Sports despite being a first-time representative.
