Ebonyi gov suspends another commissioner over misconduct

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, has suspended Uchenna Igwe, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters indefinitely.

He cited alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duty as reason for suspending the commissioner.

During a press briefing at the Government House in Abakaliki, Nwifuru revealed that Igwe failed to carry out an instruction related to Local Government pension payments by a council chairman.

The suspension takes effect immediately.

Meanwhile, this development is the latest in a series of disciplinary actions under Governor Nwifuru’s administration.
