Russian weapon seized from Hezbollah

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel has proposed handing over Russian-made weapons seized by the Israeli army in Lebanon and elsewhere to Kyiv, the Ukrainian embassy in Tel Aviv said on Tuesday.

The announcement followed a meeting between Haskel and the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk.

“During the meeting, the ambassador thanked Deputy Minister Sharren Haskel for her proposal to transfer Russian-made weapons seized by the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) in Lebanon or elsewhere from Israel’s enemies to Ukraine,” the embassy said.

“This initiative is an important step in recognizing the shared threats faced by both countries.”

The Ukrainian ambassador stressed that successful counteraction to this threat is in the common interest of both countries.

Recall that in early November, Militarnyi reported that the Israeli Defense Forces were considering forming new anti-tank units equipped with weapons captured from Hezbollah.

This decision was considered against the backdrop of a large number of anti-tank weapons confiscated during the operation in southern Lebanon, including Soviet and Russian-made ones.

Initially, it was planned to be utilized, but then it was taken to Israel.

Among the samples were 9M131FM (thermobaric) and 9M131M missiles of the Metis-M anti-tank missile system.

In addition, the 9K32M Strela-2 portable anti-aircraft missile system and RPG-29 Vampire and RPG-27 Tavolga rocket-propelled grenade launchers were shown.

Missiles for 9K135 Kornet anti-tank missile systems, Iranian Almas, RPG-7 infantry grenade launchers, grenades, and a large number of small arms and ammunition were also seized.
