The All Progressives Congress (APC) claims that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ‘s “political desperation” has caused the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
They responded directly to Abubakar’s recent comments about the need for judicial reform to address what he calls “judicial recklessness.”
On Monday, Atiku spoke in Abuja during a national conference focused on strengthening democracy in Nigeria.
Felix Morka, the APC spokesperson, noted the irony of Abubakar criticizing the judiciary despite his past court usage for political gain.
This contradiction raises questions about Abubakar’s integrity and the sincerity of his current criticisms against the judiciary.
Morka emphasized, “The judicial branch is a constitutional element like the executive and legislative branches, designed to resolve disputes among citizens and between citizens and the state.”
He further stated that Atiku can’t simply dismiss or try to eliminate the courts’ established powers to intervene in civil and electoral disputes.
Instead, Morka suggested that Atiku should concentrate on rebuilding his party and proposing practical solutions to Nigeria’s pressing issues.
He emphasized that Abubakar recognizes his political desperation as the primary reason for the severe fragmentation within the PDP.
Morka cautioned Nigerians to remain vigilant against the exaggerated claims made by desperate politicians seeking support for the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that these politicians aim to manipulate public opinion as the general elections approach in 2027.
