Lagos State SDGs Office partnered with New York-based HERhealthEQ to boost maternal and child healthcare in underserved communities.
This collaboration, announced during CEO Marissa Fayer’s Lagos visit, prioritizes tech-driven healthcare transformation.
Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, Special Adviser on SDGs, emphasized innovation’s role during discussions.
Following this commitment, HERhealthEQ donated 10 Butterfly iQ+ ultrasound devices to enhance prenatal diagnostics and maternal care access statewide.
The Butterfly iQ+ device is a state-of-the-art handheld imaging solution designed for point-of-care diagnostics.
Its applications include obstetric assessments, maternal health evaluations, cardiac and vascular examinations, and pediatric interventions.
Dr. Finnih highlighted innovative tools’ critical role in strengthening maternal healthcare, particularly for low-income communities. She stressed that deploying devices like Butterfly iQ+ enhances prenatal access and enables early risk detection.
Reiterating Lagos State’s commitment to SDG 3, Dr. Finnih championed partnerships driving healthcare progress. “Advanced diagnostics address maternal challenges,” she affirmed, “improving outcomes for underserved women and children.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Marissa Fayer praised Lagos State’s tech-driven healthcare strategy, applauding the collaboration’s potential to transform maternal health through cutting-edge solutions.
She reiterated HERhealthEQ’s mission to bridge global health disparities by equipping healthcare facilities with life-saving medical technology. Ms. Fayer also pledged continued support for maternal and child health initiatives in Lagos.
Ms. Fayer partnered with Lagos State SDGs, touring key facilities like Ikorodu Primary Healthcare Centre and Gbaja General Hospital. Transitioning next, the team assessed LASUTH, Duchess International Hospital, and Lagos Island Maternity Hospital to evaluate infrastructure.
By prioritizing seamless ultrasound integration, these visits aimed to enhance maternal care services. Ultimately, this collaboration strengthens Lagos State’s healthcare strategy through innovation, improving outcomes for mothers and children statewide.
