A yet-to-be-identified man has reportedly fled after his girlfriend, a Lagos State University graduate known as Adija, was found dead in his apartment in the Meiran area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred on February 26, 2025, when Adija visited her boyfriend following his invitation.

When she failed to return or respond to calls, her family decided to check on her.

An Instagram user, @Eyeopener, shared details of the case, explaining that upon arriving at the boyfriend’s residence, the family found the door locked.

When they managed to force it open, they discovered Adija’s lifeless body covered with a duvet on the bed.

“The couple had been dating since her first year in university, but their relationship was known to be toxic. She often spent weekdays at his apartment and returned home only on weekends,” the post stated.

Neighbours reported hearing loud noises from the apartment the night before but did not intervene, assuming it was one of their frequent disputes.

The next morning, when her phone kept ringing without an answer, her family went searching for her, leading to the tragic discovery.

A close family member, Tosin, revealed that Adija was raised by her single mother, who had struggled to provide for her education and well-being.

“Her mother went through a lot to raise her children. Now, this has happened. The suspect even called her mother, saying he was also ready to die,” Tosin said.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, with it’s spokesman, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin stating that efforts were underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
