12 out of 16 men simply identified as Hausa hunters, were brutally lynched after being mistaken for bandits in Uromi, Edo State.
News Band gathered that the hunters were traveling from Port Harcourt to Kano for Sallah, carrying their traditional hunting weapons, machetes and dane guns, loaded in a lorry.
Upon reaching Uromi, they were stopped by local vigilantes for a routine check. However, the discovery of their firearms caused panic.
Immediately, an alarm was raised, drawing in a crowd of angry youths. Fearing they were criminals, the mob descended heavily on them with merciless force.
One by one, the men were dragged out, beaten, and hacked to death. Their bodies were then set on fire.
In one of the horrifying videos sighted by this medium, a victim was seen being wheeled in a barrow toward the raging flames.
Moreover, by the time security forces arrived, only four of the hunters were still alive barely clinging to life.
At the time of filing this report, Edo State police command is yet to issue an official statement in respect to the development.
