How Nigerian TikToker Geh Geh Made ₦45 Million in One Night

A Nigerian TikTok sensation known as “Geh Geh” has stunned the internet after pulling in over $30,000 from a single live session that attracted more than 177,000 viewers.
The young entertainer, who calls his platform the “University of Wisdom and Understanding,” has quickly built a cult following with his raw and unfiltered lectures about women, money, and survival in Nigeria.
During the live broadcast on Thursday, August 21, viewers showered him with virtual gifts that he later calculated to be worth over $30,000.
The milestone instantly pushed him into the spotlight as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising online personalities.
Reacting in disbelief after the stream, Geh Geh said:
“More than 177,000 people watch my lectures today. Jesus! University of wisdom and understanding, the only university where once you graduate, woman go fear to ask you for money.”
Despite not having a formal education, Geh Geh proudly calls himself “the first illiterate to find a university in the history of Nigeria.” In a video after the viral live, he reminded fans of his humble background:
“I no be graduate too, but by the grace of God, I don find school. I be orphan, but now Nigerians don show me love.”
The TikTok star admitted he was overwhelmed by the generosity of his supporters.
“See gift I made over… more gift when they give me today is worth about $30,000. I no go take this love for granted, because I no really do anything for am.”
His rise has been hailed as proof of how social media is transforming lives in Nigeria. With no degree, no rich background, and no industry connection, Geh Geh has managed to build a fanbase that now calls themselves “students” of his unusual university.
Still, his controversial views on women and relationships continue to spark heated debates. While some dismiss his advice as reckless, others insist his boldness speaks directly to Nigeria’s frustrated youth.
Reflecting on his sudden fame, Geh Geh compared himself to great thinkers:
“If Nigeria be country wey value great people, by now them suppose dey compare people like me with Aristotle, Wole Soyinka, Einstein… but I thank God say people dey see my head and my own difference.”
From an orphan with no prospects to a viral star earning in dollars, Geh Geh’s story has become one of digital empowerment.
His journey shows how platforms like TikTok are creating new forms of fame, money, and influence for Nigerians especially those once written off by society.

UK Dominates Nigeria’s Q1 2025 Capital Inflows With N5.5tn — NBS

The United Kingdom has once again cemented its position as Nigeria’s leading source of foreign capital, accounting for more than N5.5 trillion in inflows during the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Figures from the Capital Importation Report show that capital from the UK rose to $3.68bn (N5.52tn) in Q1 2025, representing 65.26% of Nigeria’s total $5.64bn inflows for the quarter.
This marked a 29.2% rise from the $2.85bn recorded in Q4 2024 and more than double the $1.81bn inflows seen in Q1 2024.
This underscores Britain’s dominance in Nigeria’s external financing profile and highlights the strong bilateral financial ties between both nations.
Breakdown of Q1 2025 Capital Inflows by Country
United Kingdom: $3.68bn (65.26%)
South Africa: $501.29m (8.88%)
Mauritius: $394.51m (6.99%)
United States: $368.92m (6.54%)
United Arab Emirates: $301.72m (5.35%)
Together, these top five countries accounted for over 92% of Nigeria’s capital inflows, reflecting both the concentration of Nigeria’s foreign investments and the risks of over-dependence on limited markets.
Other contributors included:
Cayman Islands: $114.76m (up sharply from $0.64m in Q4 2024)
Belgium: $70.54m
France: $47.33m
Netherlands: $42.68m (down significantly from $425.61m in Q4 2024)
Singapore: $36.79m
Overall, capital importation into Nigeria stood at $5.64bn in Q1 2025, up 10.9% from Q4 2024’s $5.09bn, and a remarkable 67.1% higher than the $3.38bn recorded in Q1 2024.
The NBS noted:
“Capital Importation during the reference period originated largely from the United Kingdom with $3,681.96m, showing 65.26 per cent of the total capital imported.”
A separate survey by Strategy Management Partners (UK) reveals that British companies are increasingly targeting Africa as a strategic growth frontier.
50% of UK firms with annual turnover above £20m are already operational in Africa and planning expansions.
Another 28% of executives said they are interested but remain cautious about entry strategies.
Africa’s appeal lies in its resource wealth and demographic potential:
30% of the world’s mineral reserves
8% of natural gas reserves
12% of oil reserves
65% of the world’s arable land
Projected to host 25% of the global workforce by 2035
Seven key sectors remain magnets for foreign capital inflows into Nigeria and Africa at large:
1. Technology
2. Oil & Gas
3. Power and Renewable Energy
4. Agriculture
5. Manufacturing
6. Infrastructure
7. Strategic Minerals
Analysts warn that while Nigeria’s reliance on UK-driven inflows reflects strong global confidence, the concentration of sources exposes the economy to external shocks if investor sentiment shifts in these countries.
Diversification of investment partnerships particularly within Asi
a, the Americas, and intra-African trade will be crucial to ensuring long-term resilience in capital inflows.

Peter Obi’s Son Breaks Silence Over His Viral Photos Nigerians Are Talking About

Oseloka Obi, the son of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has publicly dismissed online attacks and rumors targeted at him.
He described them as cheap distractions that take attention away from Nigeria’s deeper challenges, including insecurity, poverty, and bad governance.
In a strongly worded open letter addressed to Nigerians, Oseloka said he had avoided speaking out for a long time despite facing insults, suspicions, and constant fabrications about his private life.
However, he explained that the persistence of these false narratives had now made it necessary to respond.
He made it clear that his father’s involvement in politics had dragged him into unwanted public scrutiny.
According to him, people often display what he called a “malicious obsession” with his personal life, mistaking his private choices for political statements. Oseloka stressed that he is not a politician and does not intend to be treated as one.
“To assume that my life or choices are somehow political statements is a flawed and childish calculation,” he wrote.
“It reveals more about the pettiness of those spreading such narratives than it does about me or my father.”
Oseloka, who works as a professional actor and filmmaker, also addressed rumors about his career.
He noted that, unlike his father who built a career in business and economics, he deliberately chose a different path in theatre and film.
He rejected suggestions of nepotism, insisting that he was raised to build his own future and not depend on his father’s wealth.
He went further to dismiss edited photos and online claims about his personal life.
According to him, these stories are not truths but deliberate fabrications designed to mislead. “They are not exposés,” he wrote. “They are simply misrepresentations fiction spun from pictures. What is being circulated is gossip.”
Oseloka stressed that this obsession with him is a dangerous distraction from the real issues facing the country.
He listed insecurity, economic hardship, decaying infrastructure, a collapsed healthcare system, and political corruption as the true crises that deserve national attention.
“Our nation still struggles with insecurity, a weakened economy, crumbling infrastructure, failing healthcare, and politicians who steal from the people they swore to serve.
Yet some prefer to focus on gossip about who Peter Obi’s son appears with in a photo,” he said.
Despite the attacks, Oseloka declared his full support for his father’s presidential ambition.
He emphasized that his support was not just because Peter Obi is his father, but because he believes Obi is the right man to rescue Nigeria from its problems.
He concluded by saying that he would continue to uphold the values of honesty, hard work, and service to others, principles he learned from his upbringing.

Obi faults proposed salary increase for politicians

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has fiercely criticized the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) over its proposal to increase the salaries of political leaders by more than 100 percent.
In a statement on Wednesday night, Obi described the move as “provocative, scandalous, and insensitive”, warning that it has already sparked widespread anger and bitterness among Nigerians, who are questioning both its necessity and timing.
Obi argued that the proposal reflects the greed and detachment of political leaders from the realities faced by ordinary citizens.
“Such thinking, in the face of faster-eroding living standards of the people, not only portrays the insensitivity of leaders but also exposes their greed”, he wrote.
He further lambasted the RMAFC’s decision as a reckless prioritization of politicians’ welfare over the desperate needs of the masses.
“It’s a shameless grab for more at the expense of Nigeria’s struggling majority”, he added.
The former governor of Anambra State stressed that the proposed salary hike is completely unjustifiable given the harsh economic conditions gripping the country.
He reminded leaders that political office is meant to be a service to the nation, not a means of accumulating wealth.
“We believe that political office is a service to the nation, and not a means to accumulate wealth”, Obi insisted.
Obi also highlighted the neglect of critical public workers, including security personnel and civil servants, whose sacrifices keep the country functioning.
He particularly decried the plight of police officers, who remain “grossly underpaid and overworked” while politicians continue to enjoy excessive privileges.
“The RMAFC’s focus on the welfare of political office holders over public workers is deeply disturbing”, he said.
While calling on the RMAFC to withdraw the proposal, Obi urged the government to redirect its attention toward improving the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians, especially public servants and security personnel, who he said have been “neglected for far too long.”
He concluded by emphasizing the need for policies that prioritize the welfare of the majority over the comfort of a privileged few.

Big Brain Naija Reality Show Set to Launch in Nigeria – What to Expect

Nigeria is set to welcome a new kind of reality TV show, Big Brain Naija (#BB9JA), which the organisers describe as a platform designed to discover, celebrate, and showcase the country’s brightest minds.
Diaspora Digital Media gathered that the show, powered by Big Brain Productions in collaboration with DAAR Communications Plc, will officially debut in October.
According to the organisers, it will air on Africa Independent Television (AIT) and will be staged in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at the official signing of the partnership agreement in Abuja, Chief Executive Officer of Big Brain Productions, Mr. Kel Ameobi, explained that the initiative seeks to balance entertainment with innovation.
He stressed that the show would focus on creativity, ideas, and problem-solving rather than the usual theatrics and controversies that dominate popular reality shows in Nigeria.
“Big Brain Naija was created with a simple but powerful vision: to build a platform where intelligence meets entertainment,” Ameobi said.
He added that Nigerian youths have often been denied opportunities to showcase their ingenuity on the big stage, while entertainment spaces tend to reward superficial content.
He continued: “For too long, we’ve seen platforms celebrate emptiness and drama, while the brightest among us have no avenue to shine.
Big Brain Naija is not a show of noise but a stage for innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. We want to celebrate ideas, not controversies.”
Joining him, Chief Executive Officer of DAAR Communications Plc, Mr. Marcel Anyalechi, praised the project as a refreshing departure from the norm.
He noted that DAAR Communications would fully support the show across all its media platforms.
“This project blends innovation and creativity, and we believe it will bring real impact to the entertainment industry.
We are excited to partner with Big Brain Productions to showcase Nigerian talent not just to Africa but to the world,” Anyalechi said.
Adding to the details, Chief Operating Officer of Big Brain Naija, Mr. Ossai Ilome, explained that the first season will feature 37 contestants representing all 36 states and the FCT.
To make the competition even more unique, the show will introduce AI-powered judges, making it the first reality TV show in Africa to integrate artificial intelligence at such a scale.
Ilome revealed that the winner of the maiden season will walk away with a grand prize of N30 million and a brand-new car.
He emphasized that beyond entertainment, the project aims to reinforce Nigeria’s global image as a nation of intelligent and industrious people.
“The time has come to showcase Nigerians as visionary and exceptional people. While the show will retain the entertaining aspect of reality TV, its heart lies in celebrating intellect, ideas, and innovation,” Ilome said.
The organisers expressed optimism that Big Brain Naija would not only captivate audiences but also inspire young Nigerians to dream bigger and push creative boundaries.
With its unique blend of entertainment, innovation, and national representation, the show aims to become a defining moment for the Nigerian entertainment industry when it premieres in October.
