The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has finally broken his silence over the call by Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], to boycott the forthcoming state governorship election.

Mr Kanu had ordered his group to boycott the lection unless the federal government hearkens to their demand for a national referendum to determine which way forward for the nation.

Speaking, Governor Obiano said: “We cannot allow somebody from another state to invade our peaceful state and issue unwelcome directives to us.

“We will not fold our hands and watch such an individual motor in people from Abia, Enugu and other outside places to disrupt order in our state.

“Ignore the empty threats. Go about your lawful businesses and sleep with both eyes closed.

“I will keep watch over you with my two eyes open. I will let anyone who dares us know I am from Aguleri.”

Obiano called on Anambrarians to take the threats as empty.

He said that the majority of those at Nnamdi Kanu’s rally at Ekwulobia on Sunday were people from Abia, Enugu and other outside places, who should not be part of the elections in the State.

Kanu had during an IPOB rally at Ekwulobia in Aguata local government area, on Sunday, reiterated his call on people to boycott the forthcoming election.

He also reaffirmed the determination of IPOB to enforce his orders of no election in the state, irrespective of any challenge to stop them.

Meanwhile, three IPOB members were killed on Wednesday, 16th August in Ekwulobia during the initial day of the proposed rally.

Similarly, the Catholic Priest, Emmanuel Obidimma (Ebube Muonso) also blasted Nnamdi Kanu over the election boycott call.

The Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry in Idemili North Local Government advised Kanu to tow the path of peace and stop the call.

Obidimma gave the advice when Kanu led his members to pay the cleric a visit on Monday.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, the cleric disclosed that he had fruitful discussion with Kanu on issues of general concern.

He said, “For me, it will be more problematic to say that there won’t be any election in Anambra, it is like somebody firing gun on his toes.

“Christ came into the world and reincarnated the message of peace and that was why I advised Kanu to uphold peace following the tensions everywhere in the country.

“Let love lead all that we do.

“I advised him to do anything within his power to instill peace, even in their agitation, let there be prudence,” he added
