The President of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) Comrade Muhammad Salis Gamawa [below] has rejected an 18-seater bus worth 7 million Naira donated to the union by the Bauchi State Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar Esq [above].

The Governor had in December last year promised to donate the bus to the union when he hosted the delegation of NUBASS in his office.

The delegation led by the Chief of Staff of the NUBASS president also discussed the issue of unpaid and current scholarship allowances of Bauchi State Students where the promised to pay the allowances soon.

Hitherto, nothing was heard from the state government over the scholarship until now when the governor ordered the release of the bus but the President rejected it saying he has nothing to do with the bus.

In a press release distributed to news men in Bauchi signed by the spokesman of the President, Mukhtar Muhammad explained the reason for rejecting the bus as non-compliance of the last agreement by state government.

We rejected the bus to show our dissatisfaction to state government about nonpayment of scholarship; this is just the beginning of the protest. If they fail to heed, we will come out and block the streets and even the government house, the statement added.

Muhammad Salis Gamawa
