Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, the Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker has been impeached alongside the deputy, Hon. Fatai Olotu.
They were reportedly impeached by 18 House of Assembly Members.
The lawmakers thereafter elected Hon. Iroju Ogundeji from Odigbo loca government as Speaker while Hon. Ayo Arowele from Owo local government serves as the deputy speaker.
Reasons for the impeachment of the speaker and deputy are still not abundantly available but some members already alleged high-handedness and non-transparency, amidst others.
The impeachment exercise was carried out at one of the lawmakers’ quarters around 10pm on Tuesday.
