Kaduna: Suspected Fulani herdsmen kill traditional ruler

Men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have murdered a traditional ruler in Fadan Karshi, Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.

The traditional ruler was murdered along with his relation.

This is happening barely one week after suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked and massacred Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani, Enugu State.

The assailants left a trail of death and destruction behind as scores of people were killed while hundreds were left homeless.

Reacting to the killing of the traditional ruler, Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai condemned the killing and appealed for calm

Malam El-Rufai commiserated with the family of the victims.

He, the governor, urged the people of Sanga local government area to be calm and support the security agencies to investigate the attack and apprehend the perpetrators of the murders.

El-Rufai spoke at a meeting with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the eight local government areas of Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Governor El-Rufai said that security agencies are investigating the attack, and are working to apprehend the culprits.

The Governor assured the party leaders of his commitment to peace and security in every part of the state. 

“It is a sad development. But we will not relent in our duty of protecting our people. 

“We shall continue to strengthen the security agencies to do a better job, as well as encourage harmonious coexistence across our communities.

“The gains made in recent months to eliminate violent communal clashes in the area must be upheld. 

“We must all be vigilant and do our best maintain the peace in our communities.”

Meanwhile, in response to the attack on Enugu State community, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has assured the community of diligent action to assuage their suffering.

He assured them that government and federal lawmakers from the State would never rest until justice was done.

Senator Ekweremadu spoke on Sunday when he led a team of National Assembly members from Enugu State.
