Governor Obiano absent at SE governors meeting

Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano was again nowhere to be found at the meeting of south East governors and selected stakeholders.

The meeting was held in Enugu.

This is the second of this meeting in a space of two weeks with Governor Obiano maintaining an uneasy distance.

Report says that Obiano is angry the meeting is not being held in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Also consciously missing at the meeting is the controversial Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Present at the meeting were:

– Deputy Senate President, senator Ike Ekweremadu

– Former governor of Anambra State, Sir Peter Obi

– Former governor of lmo State, Ikedi Ohakim

– Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu

– Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi

– Host governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and,

– Other stakeholders.

Southeast stakeholders are wondering why the meeting should be scheduled to suit an individual when others raised no such objections.

Top on the burning issues was Fulani herdsmen who recently unleashed mayhem in Enugu community.

They also discussed other emerging security challenge in the south East.

It could be readily recalled that a terror group, popular referred as to as Fulani herdsmen, attacked Nimbo village in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.

They reportedly massacred scores of unsuspecting residents and rendered several hundred others homeless.

Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had laid the blame squarely on President Muhammadu Buhari who, he said, refused to answer his distress call.

Earlier, according to him, he had summoned an emergency meeting with all security stakeholders in Enugu State.

The meeting included the Commissioner for Police, National Security and Civil Defence Corps [NSCDC] Enugu director, Army GOC, et al.

He had informed them of a looming attack by the terrorists mobilised them accordingly, a call they evidently ignored.

Later, in the heat of the attack, he had called the Army GOC who declined action, rather, referred him to ‘Abuja’.

It was then that he called President Buhari in Abuja, but he ignored his call.
