Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose was today described as a friend of the common man, a friend of an ordinary man who has no hope in the Society.
This was made known at the thanksgiving ceremony of Mr Clement Adekola, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers [NURTW], Ekiti State which took place at CAC, Ori Oke Aanu, Ikere-Ekiti.
Governor was welcomed by the members of the church in their hundreds.
The Pastor of the church welcomed Governor Fayose to the mist of the congregation saying they are blessed to have the governor among them.
In his remarks, Governor Fayose appreciates the church for welcoming him to their mist.
He also commended Mr Clement Adekola for being a member of that church saying if Mr Adekola was to be someone else, he would have preferred worshiping in a bigger church like the cathedral but rather sticks to the church in their little numbers.
The Governor described Adekola as a very big pillar in his government and also commended other Associations working together for the good will of Ekiti.
Meanwhile, Governor Fayose has said his coming to the church has given him the opportunity to see the situation of the road leading to College of Education Ikere-Ekiti and the church.
Pressed further by the members of the church on the said College road, the governor said they should leave everything to him.
The Governor who supported most of his words with different bible verses was applauded by all members of the church including the pastors in the church.
He thanked the good people of Ikere-Ekiti for their usual support and promised he will continually make the town a priority as it used to be in his first term in office.
FAYOSE SETTLES COMMUNITY RIFT, BAG’S CHIEFTAINCY TITLE
The garrulous Ekiti State Governor was once again been bestowed a chieftaincy title.
The title, Atunluse of Esure Ekiti was conferred on him by The Elesure of Esure Ekiti, HRH Oba Adebanji Ajibola and Cheif Olomu Adepoju at a ceremony held on Sunday within the premises of St. Phillips Catholic Primary School, Esure Ekiti in appreciation of his effort at resolving a leadership tussle that had lasted over fifteen years in the community.
Governor Fayose in his acceptance speech recalled that while former Ondo State governor, Chief Bamidele Olumilua was the first to commission electricity in the town, he (Fayose) was the first to tar the roads linking Esure with other adjoining towns during his first term in office.
Not oblivious of how bad the road has become, the governor promised to do the little he can before the end of his tenure regarding putting the road in good shape.
Reiterating the importance of peaceful coexistence in the development of any community, governor Fayose admonished residents of Esure to cooperate and unite so they may have a more developed town.
Fayose who stated that it was unusual of him to accept chieftaincy titles said he accepted the Atunluse title to show his love to the leaders of the community for giving peace a chance.
He added that he will come for celebration (Iwuye) of the title once there is substantial evidence that the peace agreement entered by both party is honored.
“There must be harmony, there must be peace in the community, then I will now come and celebrate the chieftaincy title.
“I will be a happy man to have everybody come with me to Esure and celebrate, we have both agreed that peace must reign, it’s not every crisis you resolve through gun”, the governor said.
Attending to some other community demands made by Oba Adebanji Ajibola, the governor directed that a borehole be sunk immediately to compliment the service of the existing one.
The governor also directed the Chief of Staff, Barr. Dipo Anisulowo through his MDG office fix the existing borehole which had become faulty.
In his bid to cushion the effect of damage done to some properties during the crisis that engulfed the community, governor Fayose donated the sum of 1 million naira to be distributed amongst victims.
