Tragedy! Several killed in Imo community vs Hausas clash

On Thursday, August 13, 2016, at Akokwa in Ideato North LG Area of Imo state tragedy struck!

In what was initially suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked on Akokwa community, a woman and a girl were killed.

Trouble started when an Hausa security man chased a girl hawking buns into a house, probably trying to rape her.

According to an eye witness account, “When the only elderly woman in the house intervened, the Hausa security man picked up a shovel and murdered both the girl and the elderly woman.”

Another lady with a child saw him and raised an alarm. 

In reprisal, the residents mobilised and he was caught and killed. 

According to the eye witness, in the ensuing pandemonium, more Hausas were rounded and killed. 

“As at now, about five Hausa men have been killed. 

“If not for police intervention, nearly 100 Hausa-Fulanis could have been killed. 

“The other Hausa people in Ideato North have all ran away. 

“I would have posted more pictures but they are gory.”

Worse yet, not contented with the gruesome killings, they set their victims ablaze with tyres hung over them.
