Obiano, others shun Ojukwu commemoration in Owerri

Chief Willie Obiano, the governor of Anambra State, the home state of the late Eze Igbo Gburugburu and Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was on Sunday absent at Ojukwu’s commemoration in Owerri, Imo State.

Several leaders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] and their governor noticeably abandoned the event.

The absence of the governor was condemned by a cross section of Igbos who considers him ungrateful for shunning the event.

This is owing to the fact that Ojukwu was one of the pioneer founders of APGA.

Also, Obiano rode on the saddle of Ojukwu to become governor Anambra State, popularly known as “Light of the Nation”.

Obiano and his fellow APGA chieftains went as far as despising the Eze Igbo Gburugburu by organising a mock chieftaincy title at Nnewi, the home of Ikemba, for Obiano.

The governor was named Dike Ora Nnewi.

On that occasion, Obiano never referred to Ojukwu on whose back APGA rode to power in Anambra.

While APGA was at Nnewi shouting Obiano for second term, Dr Chike Obidigbo, Osisioma Igbo, the APC governorship aspirant led some APC leaders in south east to Owerri to honour Ojukwu.
