APC mocks ADC over leadership crisis ahead of 2027 polls

(DDM) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ridiculed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its escalating leadership crisis, branding the opposition party as disorganised and unprepared for the 2027 general elections.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the ruling party criticised the internal wrangling within the ADC following claims by its former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala, who recently declared himself the new national chairman.

APC’s Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, dismissed Bala’s claim, describing it as another example of the ADC’s inability to maintain a cohesive leadership structure.

He emphasised that while the ADC struggles with factional disputes, the APC remains focused on governance and delivering President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The ruling party pointed to the Progressive Institute, its leadership training platform, as a model of political organisation and capacity building.

According to Ibrahim, APC’s recent victories in by-elections demonstrate its strength and public confidence, further proving that ADC poses no major challenge in the run-up to the next general elections.

Political analysts note that internal crises have weakened several opposition parties since 2023, reducing their ability to form a united front ahead of 2027.

The APC insisted that its priority remains effective governance and national development rather than meddling in the affairs of struggling opposition parties.

The party maintained that Nigerians would ultimately judge political actors by their ability to deliver results, not by engaging in endless leadership disputes.

Observers say the ADC leadership tussle reflects a broader pattern of instability among smaller political parties struggling for relevance.

The ruling party’s statement comes amid growing debate on whether Nigeria’s opposition can consolidate to challenge the APC in 2027.

Party insiders argue that the APC’s advantage lies not just in its incumbency but also in its organisational structure and electoral machinery.

The ADC has yet to release a unified response to Ibrahim’s remarks or to clarify the status of its leadership amid competing claims.

Political commentators believe the party must resolve its internal conflict swiftly if it intends to remain a viable contender.

The APC, meanwhile, is expected to intensify its grassroots mobilisation and policy implementation to reinforce its position ahead of the next election cycle.
