Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed his appearance before the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the September 1, 2025, attack on his convoy in Kebbi State.
In a statement shared via his official social media handle on Monday, Malami clarified that the DSS invitation was part of ongoing investigations, including a petition he personally filed over threats to his life.
Malami acknowledged cooperating with the DSS and praised the agency for its professionalism and transparency in handling the inquiry.
He alleged that the attack was orchestrated by “opposition high-profile political elements” in Kebbi State.
The incident has sparked accusations between Malami’s supporters and opposition figures, with Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris accusing Malami of advancing a “terrorism agenda” disguised as politics.
Idris dismissed Malami’s allegations of state-sponsored mercenaries as baseless, labeling them dangerous and politically motivated acts of desperation.
The case has intensified political friction in Kebbi, with both camps trading accusations of undermining peace and stability in the state.
