The Delta State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissolved the Engr. Austine Okolie–led executive committee and inaugurated a new leadership structure.
The decision followed a vote of no confidence passed during a state meeting in Warri at the weekend.
Party members from all 27 local government areas accused Okolie of incompetence, anti-party activities, and attempts to weaken the opposition.
The motion for his removal was moved by Hon. Alex Edumegbe of Warri South LGA.
He recalled that Okolie shunned a reception meeting on August 9, organized to welcome decampees into the party, even in the presence of Elder Igbenoba, the ADC national executive whip.
Supporting the motion, Hon. Confidence Okeyebulor from Ika North East alleged that Okolie secretly backed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the last election, despite ADC presenting Amb. Shedrack Ekure as its governorship candidate.
From Burutu LGA, Mr. Godwin said Okolie had shown no genuine interest in building ADC into a strong political party.
Hon. Felix Ogbodu warned that retaining him as chairman would destroy the party before the 2027 elections.
Okolie faced additional accusations of inferiority complex, fear of losing party control to new members, and gross incompetence.
Members described his conduct as outright sabotage before unanimously dissolving his leadership.
A new executive was immediately inaugurated.
Hon. Barbar Ebimowei emerged as Chairman, with Chief Sunday Asurai as Deputy Chairman, Okoyoyo Regina as Women Leader, and Jacob Nwanzekwu as Publicity Secretary.
Others appointed include Mr. Lucky as Secretary, alongside new officials for treasurer, youth leader, and financial secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Ebimowei thanked members for the confidence reposed in him.
He promised free membership cards, unity, and renewed strength to reposition the ADC in Delta State.
Nwanzekwu, the new publicity secretary, urged members to stay focused on the task ahead.
He said the ADC was ready to challenge the ruling party in the next election.
Meanwhile, the Okolie-led committee has rejected the sack. It described the dissolution as unconstitutional and insisted the removal will not stand.
