Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months (just over four years) in prison on Friday for prostitution-related convictions, after prosecutors had sought an 11-year sentence.
Combs, 55, was acquitted of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges but was found guilty on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution.
The charges stemmed from so-called “freak-offs,” sexual marathons with hired men that Combs allegedly directed and sometimes filmed.
In court, Combs apologized, describing his actions as “disgusting, shameful, and sick,” and asked for mercy. His lawyers had sought a lighter 14-month sentence, arguing he had already served time and was remorseful.
Victims, including Combs’ former girlfriend Cassie (Casandra Ventura), submitted letters detailing the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse they endured, describing ongoing trauma and fear of retaliation.
Combs’ six adult children also spoke on his behalf, pleading for leniency and emphasizing his efforts to change. The judge, Arun Subramanian, noted the extensive evidence against Combs and determined that a substantial sentence was necessary.
