2027: El-Rufai officially joins ADC

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant shift in his political journey.

He received his membership card at the party’s U/Sarki Ward office in Kaduna on Thursday, accompanied by loyal supporters, including former aides and local government chairmen.

El-Rufai left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in March, citing a growing disconnect between his values and the party’s direction.

In his resignation letter, he criticized the APC leadership for straying from its progressive roots, stating, “Developments in the last two years confirm there’s no desire to acknowledge, much less address, the unhealthy situation of the party.” He voiced concerns over the party’s drift for two years, which went unheeded.

A key figure in the 2013 APC coalition, El-Rufai lamented the party’s departure from its original mission. Now, he vows to challenge the APC’s leadership in Kaduna, urging citizens to join the ADC and promising to replicate the party’s 2015 victory that ousted the PDP.

His move follows unsuccessful negotiations with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which he accused of being compromised.
