(DDM) – The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto, on Friday, 26 December 2025, at the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto State.
The visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s renewed commitment to strengthening civil–military relations and fostering collaboration with traditional institutions to support national unity, peace, and security.
During the engagement, General Shaibu reaffirmed the Army’s dedication to working closely with community and religious leaders to enhance stability and promote peaceful coexistence across Nigeria.
He emphasized the importance of partnership between the military and local leaders in addressing security challenges and protecting lives and property.
The Sultan of Sokoto commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering sacrifices and ongoing efforts to safeguard citizens throughout the country.
His Eminence prayed for continued success for the Nigerian Army in fulfilling its constitutional duties and maintaining national peace.
The meeting also provided an avenue for discussing strategies to deepen cooperation between the Army and traditional authorities in conflict prevention and community development.
Observers noted that such visits are vital in building trust between the military and civil society, especially in regions affected by security concerns.
