Abia State Governor Alex Otti has ruled out defecting from the Labour Party alongside Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
Otti made this clear during his monthly media chat in Umuahia, stating that he joined the Labour Party before Obi and will remain to help rebuild it.
He revealed that Obi had informed him of his decision to leave the party, and he gave his blessings, but emphasized his commitment to the Labour Party, saying, “That is the party that brought me to power”.
Otti also responded to calls by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu to join the All Progressives Congress, saying he won’t be distracted by such calls.
He appreciated Kalu’s gesture of distributing money to vulnerable people, aligning with his own Christmas message appeal.
