The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that three suspected bandits were killed and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rimi Local Government Area, CSP Muhammad Sani-Kabir, lost his life in a gun battle on Friday.
The incident occurred when bandits attacked Magaje village, rustling animals, but were intercepted by police and military operatives.
The police team, led by the DPO, successfully recovered the stolen animals and neutralized three suspects, but the DPO was fatally shot.
One policeman was injured and is receiving medical attention.
Katsina State Police Commissioner, Mr. Bello Shehu, commended the bravery of the joint security personnel and mourned the deceased officer, describing him as upright, honest, and professional.
Condolences have been extended to the family and friends of the late officer.
