(DDM) – The leadership of the Labour Party has formally notified members and stakeholders of its forthcoming National Convention.
The party’s National Executive Committee and National Working Committee jointly issued the notice to guide preparations ahead of the crucial gathering.
According to the announcement, all eligible and interested members who intend to contest for any party position are required to obtain the official Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
Aspirants have also been directed to carefully study the convention guidelines, eligibility criteria, and the approved fee schedule before proceeding.
The party emphasized that only duly completed forms submitted within the stipulated timeframe will be considered valid.
Officials explained that detailed information regarding collection centres and designated points for obtaining forms will be released soon.
Submission deadlines, payment procedures, and approved bank accounts for remittances will equally be communicated through official party channels.
The statement added that screening processes and other procedural requirements would be clearly outlined by the national secretariat.
Party members were urged to rely strictly on verified circulars and announcements from the national leadership to avoid misinformation.
The Labour Party further reminded aspirants to ensure compliance with the party constitution and convention guidelines throughout the process.
Political analysts say national conventions remain critical milestones for Nigerian political parties.
Such conventions typically determine party leadership structures, set strategic direction, and sometimes ratify policy frameworks ahead of general elections.
For the Labour Party, the upcoming convention is expected to shape internal cohesion and define its roadmap moving forward.
Stakeholders within the party have described the exercise as an opportunity to strengthen internal democracy.
Observers note that transparent nomination and screening processes often influence public perception of party credibility.
By outlining procedures early, the party appears focused on promoting order and inclusiveness.
Members across various states are therefore encouraged to begin consultations and preparations in line with the outlined requirements.
The National Secretariat is expected to release further operational details in the coming days.
Until then, aspirants and stakeholders have been advised to remain attentive to official communications and act promptly once directives are issued.
