Senator Aminu Tambuwal has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former governor of Sokoto State and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives announced his decision in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tambuwal/Shinfiri Ward in Sokoto.

In the letter, Tambuwal attributed his exit from the PDP to the perennial leadership crisis and internal divisions that have plagued the party in recent times.

He said the persistent conflicts within the party have made it increasingly difficult for him to remain actively involved in its affairs.

“The leadership disagreements and divisions within the party at various levels have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my active participation and commitment as a member,” Tambuwal said.

He further lamented that the internal disputes had eroded the unity and direction that once defined the party.

“The ongoing conflicts have, unfortunately, weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.”

Despite his departure, Tambuwal expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it gave him to serve Nigeria in various leadership positions.

He said his decision to join the ADC was guided by his conviction that the country requires a stronger political platform capable of driving meaningful national development.

“My decision is driven by my belief that Nigeria needs a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development,” he stated.
