Saudi Arabia has ordered five Iranian embassy officials, including the military attaché, to leave the country within 24 hours, escalating diplomatic tensions with Iran.
The move, confirmed by Saudi Arabia Foreign Ministry, declared the officials persona non grata.
Those affected include the Iranian military attaché, assistant military attaché, and three other embassy staff.
While authorities did not disclose specific reasons for the expulsion, the decision comes amid heightened regional instability and growing friction between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The long-standing rivalry between both nations has been driven by geopolitical competition, sectarian differences, and influence across the Middle East.
Recent conflicts, particularly those linked to the wider crisis involving Israel and Gaza, have further intensified hostilities.
Iran has repeatedly been accused by Western and Gulf countries of supporting armed groups in parts of the region, including Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon claims it continues to deny.
The latest diplomatic action signals a further deterioration in relations, raising concerns about potential broader implications for regional security.
