Chelsea Under Fire: Calls Mount to Sack Rosenior as Fabregas Emerges as Replacement Option

(DDM) — Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is facing intensified criticism following the club’s 3-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, a loss that marked the Blues’ ninth defeat in the Premier League this season.

The match also followed Chelsea’s humiliating exit from the UEFA Champions League round of 16, where they were crushed 8-2 on aggregate by Paris Saint-Germain, adding to growing fan frustration over the team’s poor performance under Rosenior.

TalkSPORT co-host and Chelsea supporter Rory Jennings has made a public call for the immediate sacking of Rosenior, urging the club to replace him with former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who is currently managing Serie A side Como.

Jennings argued that Rosenior, who joined Chelsea in January as a successor to Enzo Maresca, has failed to meet the club’s standards and described the manager’s tenure as a “proven failure.” He criticized Chelsea’s management for giving Rosenior a five-year contract with an additional option year, asserting that contractual length should not prevent the club from taking decisive action.

“Liam Rosenior should be sacked now. He cannot be the Chelsea manager. It’s a travesty if he continues in charge,” Jennings said during a live GameDay phone-in. He added that Rosenior’s lack of results is evident and that an experienced former player like Fabregas, who understands the club’s culture and expectations, would be the ideal replacement.

Jennings emphasized Fabregas’ familiarity with Chelsea, having won the Premier League with the club and cultivated strong connections with fans. He argued that a manager with on-field experience and elite pedigree could restore stability and improve performance immediately.

Co-host Jamie O’Hara noted the contractual challenges, but Jennings dismissed this, comparing it to Chelsea’s handling of young talent like Lewis Hall, who was sold to Newcastle despite a long-term deal.

The pressure on Rosenior reflects broader challenges for Chelsea this season, including inconsistent league form and an underwhelming European campaign. While the club is actively looking to strengthen the squad in the summer transfer window, including efforts to retain Enzo Fernandez amid interest from top European clubs, managerial stability remains a critical concern for both fans and executives.

As Chelsea navigate the final stretch of the season, discussions over Rosenior’s future are expected to intensify, with supporters increasingly vocal about the need for a manager capable of achieving immediate results and ensuring Champions League qualification.
