The former Anambra State governor also commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for what he described as commendable efforts in developing Aba, popularly known as Enyimba City, highlighting ongoing improvements in infrastructure and governance.

During his visit, Obi granted a one-hour interview on Magic FM, marking his first appearance on both radio and television platforms in 2026. He thanked the media organization and ADC stakeholders for what he described as a productive interaction focused on national issues and the future of Nigeria.

Speaking on economic transformation, Obi emphasized the strategic importance of Aba in Nigeria’s industrial development, particularly in garment and shoe manufacturing. He noted that Aba has the potential to significantly boost Nigeria’s economy if properly supported, drawing comparisons with countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam, which generate substantial revenue from similar industries.

According to him, Nigeria can achieve similar success by investing in local production, improving infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment for small and medium-scale enterprises. He stressed that shifting focus to production would enhance job creation, reduce dependency on imports, and strengthen the nation’s economic resilience.

Obi further identified leadership as a major challenge facing Nigeria, arguing that the country requires competent, compassionate, and committed leaders to drive sustainable development. He maintained that effective governance remains key to unlocking Nigeria’s vast economic potential.

His message concluded with a renewed expression of optimism about Nigeria’s future, reinforcing his belief that meaningful change is achievable through deliberate reforms and collective effort.
