(DDM) — The Nigerian Army has intensified its nationwide security operations, leading to the arrest of 20 suspected criminals and the rescue of nine victims across multiple regions of the country.

The coordinated operations, carried out in different states, are part of ongoing efforts by the military to dismantle criminal networks and restore stability in areas affected by insecurity. Military authorities said the missions targeted kidnapping syndicates, armed bandits, and other organized criminal groups threatening public safety.

According to official sources, troops conducted intelligence-driven raids on identified hideouts, leading to the successful apprehension of suspects believed to be involved in various criminal activities. The operations also resulted in the rescue of victims who had reportedly been held in captivity under harsh conditions.

The Army noted that the rescued individuals have since been handed over to relevant authorities for medical attention and further support, while investigations are ongoing to uncover additional details about the criminal networks involved.

Security analysts say the latest operations reflect a renewed push by the military to confront rising insecurity across Nigeria, particularly in regions grappling with banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency. They argue that sustained pressure on criminal elements is essential to disrupting their operations and restoring public confidence.

The Army further disclosed that several items, including weapons and logistical materials, were recovered during the raids, though details of the seizures were not fully disclosed. Authorities emphasized that such recoveries are critical in weakening the operational capacity of criminal groups.

Military officials reiterated their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring Nigerians that operations will continue until all threats are neutralized. They also called on citizens to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid intelligence gathering.

Observers note that while such successes are commendable, long-term solutions to insecurity will require a combination of military action, improved intelligence coordination, and socio-economic interventions aimed at addressing the root causes of crime.

There have also been calls for stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities to ensure sustained peace and prevent the re-emergence of criminal networks. Experts warn that without continuous engagement and monitoring, dismantled groups could reorganize and resume operations.

As Nigeria continues to battle multiple security challenges, the latest operations by the Army are seen as a significant step in the ongoing effort to curb criminal activities and protect vulnerable communities across the country.
