Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), saying the current political situation in the country calls for a new direction.
In a statement released on Sunday, Kwankwaso said his resignation takes immediate effect.
He described the decision as a tough one, especially considering his long history with the party, but explained that recent developments in Nigeria’s political space made it necessary for him to move on.
According to him, the shift is part of a broader plan to align with a platform that gives him a better chance to contribute to meaningful change in the country.
Kwankwaso also took time to thank the party’s leadership, including National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed, as well as members across all levels, for their support during his time in the NNPP.
