President Bola Tinubu has revealed that Nigeria is receiving support from foreign partners to tackle terrorism and banditry across the country.
In his 2026 Easter message, Tinubu acknowledged that security threats persist despite the efforts of the nation’s military.
He expressed confidence that with international cooperation, Nigeria will overcome these challenges.
Tinubu said: “My administration continues to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to enable us to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry.
“We have also sought and are receiving assistance from outside our shores.”
Though, Tinubu did not reveal the countries providing the support or the exact nature of such assistance.
While acknowledging that insecurity persists across the country, Tinubu expressed optimism that the situation is gradually improving, crediting ongoing military operations.
This is coming at a time of renewed violence in several areas, including recent killings in Plateau State.
According to him, security chiefs have given assurances that current operations are yielding better results.
Tinubu had previously hinted at Nigeria’s engagement with international partners for military cooperation, including talks with Emmanuel Macron focused on training and equipment support.
He also appealed to citizens to cooperate with security agencies and avoid actions capable of undermining national stability.
“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” the President said.
Addressing economic matters, Tinubu defended his administration’s policy reforms, maintaining that they are essential despite the present economic difficulties.
He further cautioned political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them to act responsibly and comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
