OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Ogun State has drawn attention to ongoing infrastructure development projects, with a focus on aviation and regional growth initiatives led by the state government.

The visit highlighted the progress of the newly developed Gateway Airport, a flagship project positioned as a major transportation hub intended to boost connectivity, investment, and economic activity within the South-West region.

During the engagement, President Bola Tinubu commended the scale of development projects underway, describing them as aligned with broader national goals of infrastructure expansion and economic renewal.

He was received by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who showcased key achievements of his administration, with particular emphasis on transportation infrastructure and industrial development.

The Gateway Airport project, one of the centrepieces of the visit, is expected to improve air travel access, support logistics operations, and attract private sector investment into the state’s growing industrial corridors.

Officials say the facility is part of a wider strategy to position Ogun State as a key economic gateway between Lagos and other parts of the country.

The President’s tour also served as a platform to assess ongoing federal-state collaboration on infrastructure delivery, with both sides stressing the importance of continuity in development projects.

Supporters of the administration described the visit as symbolic, noting that it reinforced confidence in subnational development efforts and showcased visible progress on major capital projects.

The visit comes at a time when the federal government is pushing for increased infrastructure-driven growth, particularly in transportation, energy, and industrial expansion.

While details of additional federal commitments were not fully disclosed, the engagement underscored a shared emphasis on accelerating projects that can stimulate job creation and regional competitiveness.
