“Thank you, everyone, for the love you showed us. TROA opens with ₦104.8M, breaking multiple records in just one weekend. Highest-grossing Easter weekend performance, biggest opening for a Nollywood sequel. This was only possible because of you.”

“₦104.8M in its opening weekend, biggest Easter opening, and the highest-grossing film of the weekend. But beyond the numbers, this is what happens when a story truly connects. When people see themselves on screen, they show up—and West Africa, you filled the cinemas.”

Return of Arinzo is a sequel to the 2013 Yoruba hit Arinzo, which explored crime, personal transformation, and redemption. The original film, directed by Abiodun Olanrewaju and Muhydeen S. Ayinde, featured a mix of Nollywood and Ghallywood talents, setting the stage for Ojo’s triumphant follow-up.

The sequel continues the story with fresh twists, compelling drama, and relatable characters, which appear to have resonated strongly with audiences across Nigeria and beyond. Analysts note that its impressive opening signals the growing influence of Yoruba-language films in Nollywood’s commercial landscape.

Beyond box office success, the film has sparked conversations on social media. A viral moment from the Lagos premiere involved fellow actresses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, where Abraham’s attempt to greet Akindele was met with an apparent non-response, igniting discussion and playful speculation online.
