Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, as uncertainty grows over Bayern Munich’s willingness to complete a permanent deal for the striker following his loan spell in Germany.
Jackson, who joined Bayern on loan last summer, has registered nine goals across all competitions during his time in the Bundesliga. However, despite flashes of promise, the German champions are yet to make a final decision on whether to trigger a permanent transfer option.
According to reports from The Sun, Bayern Munich, who recently secured the Bundesliga title after a win over Stuttgart, are still assessing Jackson’s long-term future. The club’s coaching staff, led by Vincent Kompany, are said to have been impressed with the player’s attitude and adaptability, leaving the door open for a potential stay beyond the current campaign.
“SunSport has been told that Vincent Kompany has taken a keen liking to how Jackson has handled himself and would not be against keeping him, though no decision will be made until the end of the season,” the report stated.
Despite this interest, sources suggest that Bayern remain hesitant, with financial considerations and squad planning expected to play a key role in any final decision. If the German giants opt against a permanent move, Jackson will return to Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.
At Chelsea, Jackson’s long-term future remains uncertain. While some sections of the fanbase would reportedly be open to a sale at the right price, others believe he still has potential to develop into a more consistent attacking option if given time and proper support within a settled system.
The striker’s situation comes at a time of wider instability at Stamford Bridge, where squad planning and attacking output have been recurring concerns. Chelsea’s coaching staff are expected to reassess their forward options ahead of next season, with potential incoming and outgoing transfers likely depending on managerial decisions and financial strategy.
For Jackson, the coming weeks will be decisive. Bayern’s final evaluation, expected at the end of the season, will determine whether he remains in Germany or returns to England to fight for his place in a highly competitive Chelsea squad.
